Who can apply for MobiPrize?

Applying for a MobiPrize (and joining the MobiNet) is easy. You can apply for:

  • Enterprising City/State/Nation: If you are an authorized representative of any city, state or national government or government owned agency/public enterprise with proven track record of encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of sustainable urban mobility, you are eligible. Partner or supportive organizations can also nominate their city or state for the award if they are working closely with them to encourage sustainable transportation innovation and/or enterprise. The city/state/national government representatives must come to accept the award.

    • Most Enterprising Indian City: If you are an authorized representative of an Indian city with a proven track record of encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of sustainable urban mobility, you are eligible. Please note that even though partner or supportive organizations can nominate their city or state or nation for the award (if they are working closely with them to encourage sustainable transportation innovation and/or enterprise) they cannot be honored as the winners. The city government representatives must come to accept the award.
    • Most Enterprising Indian State: If you are an authorized representative of an Indian state with a proven track record of encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of sustainable urban mobility, you are eligible. Please note that even though partner or supportive organizations can nominate their city or state or nation for the award (if they are working closely with them to encourage sustainable transportation innovation and/or enterprise) they cannot be honored as the winners. The state government representatives must come to accept the award.

How do I submit my application?

Our ONLINE FORM is the easiest way to apply for MobiPrize.

If you have technical difficulties with the online form, we have Word forms available as an alternate. Download the Word form using the following links:

Note: If you’re interested in applying for both the Global Grand MobiPrize and the Michigan MobiPrize, please submit only the Michigan MobiPrize application. We’ll automatically enter you for Global Grand MobiPrize as well if you meet the qualifications.

Then submit the completed form with relevant documents

  •  by email to mobi.internal@gmail.com
  • Or by registered/postal mail to: Komal Anand, SMART MOBI 2901 Baxter Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48190-2150.

Some additional pointers

  • Feel free to move the judges with images, passion, and poetry. But more importantly judges will also be looking for hard facts and figures (all in the space allotted of course). We very much prefer that you submit online.
  • We encourage you to make a video that can tell the story in 3 minutes or less that can provide the jury with a quick snapshot of your project and even be shown at the award ceremony.
  • Applications must be submitted (either received online or postmarked) by August 30th at midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST) to be eligible. Meanwhile you will need to prepare the ground for obtaining appropriate visa documents in anticipation of winning the prize.
  • A short form of all submissions will be added to the SMART Mobi Network (MobiNet) for all to see. This is why you are always a winner. Note however, that entries that do not meet legal requirements, or that are not “up and running” registered businesses will not be listed or will be removed from the Registry.
  • A diverse, diligent, and objective judging advisory team will filter, sort, cull and select a short list from the submitted entries.
  • It will then be submitted to the Panel of Final Judges who will select the winners.
  • Together, the prizewinners will represent excellence in adding value (social, environmental, economic) and connecting seamlessly to the overall transportation system
  • Winners will be notified by first week of October. Visas will be attained, tickets will be bought, presentations will be made, mentors will be met and learned from, and honors will be bestowed at the award ceremony being held at the “New Mobility Industry and entrepreneurship” summit in New Delhi, India that is being organized by UM-SMART and the Institute for Competitiveness, India.
