| April 4, 2016

Is your organization or a partner tackling climate change through an innovative project? Apply yourself or spread the word to your partners to apply.

The search for Momentum for Change’s 2016 Lighthouse Activities is on! Spearheaded by the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat, Momentum for Change shines a light on the most innovative, scalable and replicable examples of what people around the world are doing to tackle climate change.

Organizations, communities, cities, businesses, governments and others that are taking concrete action on climate change can apply to have their projects recognized as a 2016 Lighthouse Activity. This year there are 3 areas of focus:

  1. Women for Results: recognizing the critical leadership and participation of women in addressing climate change.
  1. Financing for Climate Friendly Investment: recognizing successful innovations for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  1. ICT Solutions: recognizing successful climate change mitigation or adaptation activities that produce measurable results.

To be eligible, the activity must address climate change mitigation or adaptation; have already be implemented, or in the course of implementation; be scaleable and/or replicable with a long-term impact; deliver verifiable social and environmental benefits; and not be registered or have intentions to register as a clean development mechanism (CDM) or joint implementation (JI) initiative in the next two years.

If your project is selected as a winning activity, you will receive a wide range of benefits, including fully covered attendance to the 2016 UN Climate Change Conference in Marrakech, Morocco; access to policy makers and potential funders during the conference; public recognition by the UN Climate Change secretariat; public relations support and media training; high-quality promotional videos and podcasts; a dedicated page about your project on our website; and graphic assets such as infographics and professional photography.
