Scottish Enterprise, Scotland
In addition to the Enterprising City/State MobiPrize, the jury bestowed an honorary award to Scottish Enterprise, Scotland. Scotland’s national plan, one that names New Mobility industry, enterprise, and economic development in its Constitution, powerfully demonstrates MobiPrize’s goals of encouraging New Mobility entrepreneurship, industry, and economic development in cities and states. The plan is exemplary of the role governments can and should play in setting a framework for innovation and industry transformation in next generation transportation. But beyond the plan, Scotland has demonstrated in 2 years a significant commitment to developing conditions for cities and states to grow New Mobility enterprise, industry, and jobs, and has already levered major investment in both small and large enterprises on the ground.
About Scottish Enterprise, Scotland
As agencies of the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise (Lead Applicant) and Highlands and Islands Enterprise are regional organizations chartered by an act of parliament to tackle specific regional economic development challenges. Both have demonstrated active efforts to build a culture of innovation and encourage entrepreneurship in sustainable transportation through enabling policy changes, capacity building, data sharing, funding (PPP) and other resource allocation efforts. Both have a track record of delivering results for entrepreneurs, new enterprises, existing industry, academia, and the economy.
Scotland is using the Smart Mobility opportunity to make a major Europe 2020 strategic contribution by demonstrating and promoting smart, sustainable and inclusive growth within a world class Smart Mobility Cluster across the Scottish Region as a global exemplar, supported by private investment, public grants, and the Horizon 2020 framework programme, for greater co-ordination of National and European policy deployment.
About the Enterprising City/State MobiPrize

As the honorary (national level) winner of the 2014 Enterprising City/State MobiPrize, Scottish Enterprise, Scotland was honored at the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) World Congress in Detroit from Sept 7-11, 2014.
