Michigan MaaS Mobility Week and Trade Mission Sept. 26-30. Agenda and Registration Below.

There is an opportunity to join UM-SMART in Michigan for a week-long series of invitation-only events to welcome a small but influential visiting trade delegation of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) trailblazers. The European delegation includes senior officials representing Finnish, Swedish and UK industry, enterprise, government, and research.

NextEnergy is the core Michigan-based partner in this SMART-led international consortium and this is our chance to host our European colleagues at the home stadium! It promises to be a unique opportunity to engage with globally recognized :Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) pioneers to hear first-hand their successes and challenges in implementing MaaS ventures and programs across a range of contexts.

You would also have the chance to share technological and commercial best practices with other local and global MaaS movers from the automotive, IT, energy, real estate, freight, infrastructure, and finance industries, as well as tech and service startups, local governments, investors, researchers, and more.

The purpose of the MaaS Trade Mission and MaaS mobility week is to propel the MaaS transformation forward, providing new market opportunities and smarter mobility solutions in Michigan and globally

MaaS Core Group Meeting (11-2:30pm) – open to MaaS Consortium members only
A deep dive meeting of MaaS core group members from Europe and Michigan and key SMART partners at “the Barn”. The purpose of the meeting is to prepare for the week’s goals of identifying, accelerating and manifesting deployment/project/research collaboration opportunities among international delegates and the Michigan delegates.

Research Meetup (2:30-5:30pm at the Gladwin Barn in Ann Arbor)
An invitation only research meetup event. This event will give Michigan-based New Mobility industry and enterprise players and international partners an opportunity to deep dive with UM research leads, to learn from each other, and to explore collaborative business and tech transfer ventures related to Mobility as a Service.

Evening activities– open to MaaS Consortium members only (TBD) 


Industry Matchup & Trade Mission (11:30am – 5pm at Next Energy in Detroit)
SMART and Next Energy have engaged Michigan-based industry and public sector movers for this invitation-only event. It enables attendees to interact with globally recognized mobility pioneers to hear first-hand their successes and challenges in implementing MaaS enterprises and systems. The delegation includes senior officials from Finnish, and Swedish government and research entities, who along with other local and global MaaS industry movers and thought leaders will share technological and commercial best practices to help propel this transformation forward providing new market opportunities and smarter mobility solutions for all. Startup & SME Pecha Kucha event (5:00 -7:30 pm with Techstars in Detroit)
Techstars Mobility Accelerator, Driven by Detroit, focuses on the rapidly changing mobility and transportation industry. Companies that come through it include software, hardware and advanced materials businesses building technologies that will power the efficient movement of people, goods and services across all modes of transportation. These companies and other local enterprises and SMEs will hear from and share their work with the visiting European MaaS delegation, and explore opportunities for collaboration and joint ventures.

DAYS 3, 4 & 5: SEPTEMBER 28 – 30

World Mobility Leadership summit (Sept 28 -29 at Westin, Airport)
Bill Ford, Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company, is convening this invitation-only event to bring together thought leaders in the mobility arena to talk about the future of mobility and to explore how mobility and mobility-related technologies can play a role in solving some of society’s global challenges and social issues whether they be congestion, health care, environmental, or the next big challenge. Best practices and leading edge mobility-related technologies will also be showcased. Read more

Individual Industry meetings (Sept 28,29&30 at Westin, Airport)
Opportunity for conducting individual business meetings with industry & cities (emanating from connections made over the week) during the World Mobility Leadership Summit (Sept 28-29), and on Friday, Sept 30 which has been kept more flexible precisely for this purpose.

SMART MaaS Consortium Wrap Up Lunch (Sept 30, Westin, Airport)
A focused action-oriented lunchtime discussion on identified project opportunities and next steps that arose out of the week-long activities.
