mobil.LAB doctoral research group – opportunities for dedicated young researchers

| February 1, 2016

The mobil.LAB doctoral research group on “Sustainable mobility in the metropolitan region of Munich” (PK 032) has been established at TUM through the support of the Hans-Böckler-Foundation. A second phase of the program will focus on “changing mobility cultures” for the period of 2016 to 2019, in cooperation with HfWU.

In order to further develop this international and interdisciplinary group, we are seeking promising candidates for:

— 1 Post-Doc position (TV-L 13 position at TUM, full time, three years, starting October 2016) at TUM’s Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning, which will support the management of the group as well as the engagement of individual research and teaching.

— 8 Doctoral fellowships (by Hans-Böckler-Foundation, up to three years, monthly rate of 1.450 €, starting from October 2016) focusing on individual topics out of the following areas:

  • New mobility concepts: e.g. framework and impacts of multimodal mobility services, interactions with urban environments and mobility behavior, or perspectives on highly-automated vs. autonomous driving
  • Changing mobility practice: e.g. transforming workplace environments, impacts of information and communication technologies on mobility behavior, new mobility patterns, or modelling different framework conditions
  • Transition from transport to mobility policies: developing a multi-layer governance model for sustainable mobility in the metropolitan region of Munich, a critical discourse analysis on smart cities, or integrated planning procedures for sustainable urban development and mobility
  • Sustainable mobility cultures: mobility cultures for the future of the metropolitan region, or planning in the mobile risk society based on relevant and new mobility theories

The fellowships will be granted following the BMBF-guidelines and the funding criteria of the Hans-

Böckler-Foundation. Applicants must show final study degrees above average as well as a proven socio-political or trade-union engagement. Documents required for your application can be found at http://www.boeckler.de/92.htm.
